The Consolidating Democratic Dividends for Sustainable Transformation in Kenya project is a critical initiative that aligns with Outcome 2 of the Uraia Trust 2021-2025 Strategic Framework. This outcome focuses on increasing responsiveness and accountability in public spaces, with a specific emphasis on Output 2.4, which aims to have increased accountability in public finances. The Project spanning from 2021 to 2024, was dedicated to advancing civic participation, fortifying governance and democratic achievements, and addressing threats to democracy in Kenya.
The project outputs include the development of policy research and aide-memoires to inform the national recovery and prosperity agenda, contributing to strengthened institutional capacity and compliance as well as increased gender inclusion, transparency, and accountability. Moreover, it aims to increase the knowledge of governance processes among citizens, particularly the targeted demographic groups, fostering civic and media engagement for accountable service delivery. Additionally, the project works towards systematically mitigating hate speech and fake news online, contributing to the promotion of civic and media engagement.
The project focuses on bolstering key governance institutions and processes, with a specific emphasis on enhancing the involvement of youth, women, minorities, and persons with disabilities in governance and accountability mechanisms.
