what we do
Our Work
Uraia Trust provides civic education to equip citizens with the knowledge and skills to promote and demand accountability in public affairs, and to practice the values that underpin the society envisioned in our constitution.
Our work is guided by our Strategic Framework 2021-2025 and our overall goal is the development of an empowered, engaged and values-based citizenry.
We want to see:
A vibrant ecosystem of civic education
Increased engagement by citizens in public affairs
Enhanced, equitable and quality service delivery by national and county governments
National consensus on and demand for the practice of Utu in the public sphere
Our Programmes
Our programmes are anchored in the aspirations of Kenya’s constitution and designed to reflect the development agenda articulated in Vision 2030, which envisions “a democratic political system that is issue based , people-centred, result-oriented and accountable to the public. ” Our programmes also align with continental and international commitments set out in the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
