The Expanding Spaces for Women’s Political Participation in Kenya project is a targeted initiative to strengthen the capacity of women leaders in seven focus counties: Kisii, Homabay, Embu, Samburu, Kericho, Wajir, and Kajiado. This project is strategically aligned with Outcome 2 of the Uraia Trust Strategic Framework, which focuses on increasing responsiveness and accountability in public spaces, and specifically emphasizes Output 2.1, which aims to promote increased constitutionalism and adherence to the rule of law.
The project aims to improve women leaders’ ability to participate in politics and decision-making, advocate for gender-responsive legislation, and foster inclusive governance processes. With a focus on all the 7 Counties, we aim to empower women leaders to drive change and create a more equitable and inclusive society.
Uraia Trust is implementing this program with support from UN Women and Global Affairs Canada (GAC).
